Community

Invested in the communities we serve

Since our founding in 1952, Bellwick National has believed that a bank's health is inseparable from the health of the communities it serves. In 2025 alone, we committed $185 million in community development loans, $14 million in nonprofit grants, and over 95,000 employee volunteer hours across 32 states.

2025 community impact

Four flagship programs drive our community investment strategy, each designed to create measurable, lasting impact in the neighborhoods we serve.

$185M

Community Development Lending

Bellwick National provides below-market-rate loans for affordable housing construction, rehabilitation, and preservation. In 2025, we financed 2,400+ affordable housing units across 32 states through CRA-qualifying loans and low-income housing tax credit investments. Our Community Development team works directly with developers, housing authorities, and nonprofit sponsors to structure financing that makes projects viable.

$8.5M awarded

Small Business Grants

The Bellwick Small Business Grant Program provides $10,000-$50,000 grants to minority-owned, women-owned, and veteran-owned small businesses in low-to-moderate income communities. Since 2018, we have awarded over $42 million to 1,200+ small businesses. Grant recipients also receive 12 months of mentorship from Bellwick commercial bankers and access to our small business resource library.

32,000 students

Financial Literacy Program

Our banker-volunteers taught financial literacy workshops in 240+ schools across 32 states in 2025. The curriculum covers budgeting, saving, credit, student loans, and basic investing — tailored for middle school, high school, and college audiences. Free one-on-one financial coaching is available at every Bellwick branch for customers and non-customers alike.

95,000+ hours

Employee Volunteer Program

Every full-time Bellwick employee receives 32 hours of paid volunteer time annually. Teams organize Habitat for Humanity builds, food bank drives, financial literacy workshops, and mentorship programs. In 2025, our 6,200 employees contributed over 95,000 volunteer hours to community organizations, equivalent to $3.4 million in donated labor.

“Harold Bellwick used to say that a bank's true balance sheet isn't measured in dollars alone — it's measured in the strength of the neighborhoods it serves. Every loan we make to an affordable housing project, every grant to a small business, every hour our people volunteer — that's the return on investment that matters most.”
